Bentley Food Inc. Background

Bentley Foods Inc. sold frozen foods and added a new product line, which is the frozen pizza. The company decided to add and promote 15% of the population select non-frozen an instead of froze pizzas. In order to solve this problem they would have to sample 1,000 customers but 172 want a new product than the current brand. The company would also have to find the null and alternative hypothesis, standard errors of the population and z-statistic in this case study. Bentley Foods Inc. have to determine if the null hypothesis should be used or not in the .05 significance level and analyze the sample proportion at the .05 significance level. Bentley Food Inc. plans to add frozen pizza that 172 customers are interested in this idea in null and alternative hypothesis, standard errors, z-statistics and .05 significance level of the population to solve this problem.

Null and Alternative Hypothesis

Hypothesis is an educated guess on the prediction in situations that happens. Null hypothesis involved the researchers disapprove or rejects of using this hypothesis to resolve case study. Trafimow and Rice (2009) explained, “Researchers conduct the statistical significance test and find that p value is .05, which qualifies for the criterion for statistical significance” (p.292). Alternative hypothesis involved researchers accept if the probability exceed a significance level. Howard (2009) states, “one cannot reject a statistical hypothesis without having an alternative to set against it” (p.259). In Bentley Food Inc. case study, here are the formulas for null and alternative hypothesis.  The formulas are Ho, u = 15 and Ha; u > 15.

Standard Error

Standard Error used in this case study of Bentley Food Inc. Iacobucci and Churchhill, Jr. G.A. (2010) states, “Standard error used in regression analysis for the absolute amount of variation in the criterion variable that left unexplained or unaccounted for by the fitted regression equation” (p.592). To calculate the standard error, here is the solution to resolving this standard error in the Bentley Food Inc. case study.

Z-Statistics

The z-statistics is also used to calculate this case study of Bentley Food Inc. Z-statistics use to calculate the z-score from the two samples of the population mean and standard deviation. It is important to use this formula Z value=(x-u)/ S.  X is for standard random variable. U Is for the population mean and α is use for solving the population standard deviation.

Significance Level

Significance level focus on the statistical hypothesis test for resolve incorrect rejected the null hypothesis H0 by determining whether of not it is true. In this case, the z table is 0.4 meaning the score is 0.5040. Silins (2013) explains, “the arguments on the significance level on the potential on interest in the hypothesis test on this company’s adding new frozen pizza with the current frozen pizza” (p.29). The results of the null hypothesis of 0.5 is not rejected because the range of the z table. In the meanwhile, the proportion of 0.5 indicates 95% of the sample is positive about adding new frozen pizza in the market.

Conclusion

Bentley Food Inc. did add frozen pizza that 172 customers are interested in this idea the analysis defined null and alternative hypothesis, standard errors, z-statistics and 05 significance level of the population to solve this problem. This company will have make sure that there are enough population that wants new frozen pizzas at this company. It is also always to for companies to make changes like add new products because it helps to resolve any current products and services that have not sold well. It also helps the business growth to offer more products and services that customers want to try their companies.
